Fork Mount

Me and friend of mine were talking about this for long time. Two years ago he started to work with CNC machines and learned how to use them. So we decided that we should try to make some dream come true and build for ourselves some small robotic fork mount for long CCD runs on variable stars and other phenomenas.

This is proof of concept for us. We plan to make bigger and better ones but you always need to start with something small to learn your lessons. And we did learned a lot. We finally finished first version capable to care a scope with CCD after just few iterations.

Here are some pics of mount and PEC results for it. We hope this periodic error will be corrected using HAL sensors and onStep SW. We also hope big backlash for both axes will be reduced like that.
